Police in Georgia say several people have been injured after shooting broke out at a crowded fair in Savannah.

Savannah-Chatham County police spokesman Julian Miller said he didn't know how many people were hurt late Saturday, but said none of the victims appeared to have life-threatening injuries.

Memorial Health University Medical Center spokeswoman Dawn Henderson says six people have been brought to the hospital from the fairgrounds. No details of their conditions were immediately available.

Sarah Smith, a deputy coroner for Georgia's Chatham County where the fairgrounds are located, says no deaths have been reported to the coroner's office.

Miller says shooting erupted at the Coastal Empire Fair shortly before closing time while large crowds remained at the fairgrounds. Miller says several people were taken into police custody for questioning.
