Authorities say there's no danger after a loud noise was reported as possible gunfire at San Francisco General Hospital.

Hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan says a staff member reported the noise in an outbuilding on the campus around 1 p.m. Wednesday. The building is used for offices and research and does not provide any patient care.

Kagan says sheriff's deputies and police investigated, and officials determined that no shots were fired. Kagan says the noise may have been caused by construction on the hospital's campus.

She says authorities gave the hospital the all-clear shortly before 2 p.m.
