California authorities found no explosives in a device that a man carried into an emergency room Thursday and claimed was a bomb.
The man was taken from the Loma Linda University Medical Center emergency room by a sheriff's bomb squad, and technicians determined the device was inert, The Press-Enterprise reported.
He was described as a Hispanic male in his late 50s and was taken to a nearby hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
Pedestrian and vehicle traffic near the emergency room was halted while a bomb squad investigated.
Loma Linda, Calif., is about 56 miles east of Los Angeles.
