Arizona’s controversial immigration law, SB 1070, will take effect July 29. Leading supporters of the measure, Sheriff Paul Babeu and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told MyFoxPhoenix.com that they have serious doubts about the Obama administration’s approach to securing the border.

Both, Babeu and Arpaio say President Obama's plan to send National Guard troops to the border is a joke.

"500 soldiers isn't going to cut it. We need 3,000 armed soldiers deployed to Arizona alone." says Babeu.

"500 people, that's a joke when you split... they don't work 24 hours a day." Arpaio said. "They make the people think that something's being done at the border and that's sad to con the American people."

The sheriffs also told MyFoxPhoenix.com that the Obama administration's claim that there are more resources and less violence along the border is ridiculous.

“It’s to make people think something is being done at the borders. It’s just sad,” said Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
