ORLANDO, Fla. -- When Casey Anthony was acquitted of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, hundreds of thousands of people poured their rage into postings on Facebook, Twitter and other sites.
Some of the threats have been disturbing enough to make the judge hold off on releasing the names of jurors. And it's all the more likely that Anthony will be secretly whisked away when she's released from jail. She's scheduled to be released July 17.
Dr. Phyllis Chesler, a psychologist who authored "Mothers on Trial," says the case connected with millions of people because people instinctively reject the idea of a mother ever harming her child. She says the case fits the bill for the kind of distraction people seek out.
