Amtrak service suspended between Wilmington, Del., and Baltimore; overhead wires damaged

ELKTON, Md. – Amtrak has suspended train service between Wilmington, Del., and Baltimore after overhead wires were damaged in Maryland.

Spokesman Craig Schulz says crews are assessing the damage to the wires Wednesday in Cecil County in northeastern Maryland, but it may take all afternoon to restore service. He says it is not clear yet what caused the damage.

Amtrak says the extensive damage means Acela Express, Northeast Regional and other services are not operating between the two cities, and passengers should expect delays.
