Casper's police chief is apologizing for how it handled part of the investigation into last week's killings.
On Friday, 25-year-old Christopher Krumm stabbed his father's girlfriend to death at her home before going to Casper College to kill his father and then himself. The body of 42-year-old Heidi Arnold was left outside for hours, within view of people nearby, as police investigated both scenes.
KTWO-AM reports that many expressed concern about that, leading police chief Chris Walsh to apologize on Monday for not being better prepared to handle such a scene. He promised to correct that.
He issued a statement Monday to K2radio.com:
"The Homicides that occurred on Friday, November 30th, required in depth crime scene investigation at multiple locations. During the course of the day at the Hawthorne crime scene the victim was exposed outside. The wind was significant and made it so a tent was not a feasible option. Efforts were made to obscure the scene by vehicles but it clearly was not enough. We found we were not as prepared for this type of scene as we should have been. We will correct that. I have heard the many concerns about this and agree with them. Please accept my personal apology."
