A 19-year-old who allegedly stole a car in New Hampshire reportedly told a police officer that “he just wanted to get out of Rhode Island.”

The Providence Journal reported Alex J. Patterson was charged with stealing the SUV and ramming it into a police car. Police said that after Patterson was stopped and read his Miranda rights, he spoke freely.

“I asked Mr. Patterson if he knew that the vehicle was stolen,” one of the officers wrote, according to the paper. “He told me, ‘Yes, I stole it from Coventry.’”

Police went on to say that the suspect said he noticed the vehicle parked near a Walmart with the keys in it.

The paper reported that Patterson has three outstanding warrants.
