For the second time in three years, the dismembered body of a woman has been found in Niagara Falls, and officials say the two women knew each other.

Police in the New York city say the body of 46-year-old Terri Lynn Bills was discovered late Tuesday in an abandoned home. Police say someone who entered the home found the remains and alerted authorities.

Investigators say the head, arms and feet had been removed. Police say the body was placed in the home after Bills died.

In 2012, 30-year-old Loretta Gates was killed and her body parts were discovered in a Niagara Falls Park and the Niagara River. That case is unsolved.

Police are trying to determine if the two cases are linked.
