Honolulu Fire officials say a wildfire that has forced about 40 people to evacuate their homes in Makakilo was caused by two boys playing with a lighter.

Fire Capt. David Jenkins says the fire remains out of control Saturday and there's no word on its size. The fire scorched a wall and door of one home.

Jenkins says the parents of the 7-year-old twin boys told investigators their sons inadvertently ignited the blaze Friday afternoon.

Winds gusting at 20 to 30 mph pushed the flames uphill and into a rugged, inaccessible mountain area. The fire is threatening 20 homes about three miles above where the fire started.

Jenkins said crews were hoisted uphill to protect the homes, as well as power lines and phone towers in the area.
