An 11-year-old boy who brought a loaded gun to his northern Michigan school is returning to court for a sentence.

The boy was in fifth grade in September when another student at Kingsley Middle School told a teacher about the weapon. No one was hurt at the school, southeast of Traverse City.

The boy is due in Grand Traverse County court on Thursday, two months after pleading guilty to carrying a concealed weapon. Other charges are being dropped.

He's expected to get a sentence that will give him an opportunity to clear his record in the years ahead if he stays out of trouble. He turns 12 in April.
