Facing pressure from the National Center on Sexual Exploitation and competition from mobile devices, several major hotel companies have begun phasing out on-demand adult entertainment from their rooms.
However the emergence of virtual reality (VR) and ultimately a more immersive experience could lead some brands to reverse course.
VentureBeat.com reported VR content platform VR Bangers is partnering with headset manufacturer AuraVisor to explore the viability of in-room porn experiences.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the VR experiences will be offered at hotels in Las Vegas, with VR Bangers accepting offers from trial opportunities.
The offering will only cost guests about $20. The headset in their room will come pre-loaded with content.
"You will then choose a girl or guy of your choice and see your hotel room replicated in the VR headset, making the experience much more realistic," said VR Bangers in a statement. "Next you will hear a knock on the door — in the virtual reality world — and the girl or guy will come into your room in order to enjoy an erotic or sex experience with the viewer."
While VR Bangers already supports Android phones, the Oculus Rift, Samsung's Gear VR and other platforms, Engadget's Nick Summers details why AuraVisor is arguably the best headset for naughty travelers:
"The AuraVisor is potentially a good fit because it's cheap and doesn't require a tethered smartphone. The headset is, essentially, a self-contained Android device running a modified version of Google's mobile OS. It has a 5-inch 1080p display and a 100-degree field of view, with access to a custom VR store that's linked to the Google Play marketplace. Such a setup should appeal to customers, especially business folk, who want to leave no trace of their VR escapades on their phone."
It remains to be seen when and where the VR adult entertainment will roll out on the Strip. However the prospect of it is already generating buzz and the offering is likely to garner interest from strung out travelers.
"The true number is not known, but most studies suggest that around 30 percent of web traffic is adult content," added VR Bangers. "VR porn looks set to shake up this stagnant yet huge market, and VR Bangers and AuraVisor are well placed to benefit from the growing adoption of VR technology."
