A driver's early-morning trip through Yellowstone National Park took a frightening turn when a bison suddenly charged his pickup truck.

A video shared on Facebook shows the massive animal standing on a dark roadway before rushing toward the vehicle — then slamming into the front of the truck.

The driver had stopped his Ford Ranger after spotting the bull bison near Mud Volcano at around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to Wyoming publication Cowboy State Daily.

Kyle Weber, a seasonal mechanic who had been working in Yellowstone, was driving south from Canyon Village toward Fishing Bridge when he encountered the animal in the road, the outlet reported.

Rather than attempting to pass, he hit the brakes and waited for the bison to move.

"I slammed on my brakes and stopped, and was just sitting there watching and waiting for him to continue walking," Weber told Cowboy State Daily.

After he waited, the animal remained on the roadway — and then unexpectedly charged the pickup and hit its front-left side, according to the outlet.

"I definitely got jolted," Weber said. "I knew they hit hard, but that was pretty rough."

Fox News Digital reached out to Yellowstone National Park for comment.

Weber said he estimated the impact pushed his truck backward at least a foot and a half. The collision dented the truck's bumper and hood, and it broke a side marker light, according to Cowboy State Daily.

Weber reportedly plans to replace the damaged bumper and side marker, using the repairs as an opportunity to make some upgrades to the truck.

The dented hood, however, may remain as a reminder of the encounter.

"I think I'll keep it," Weber said. "It has a cool story behind it," the same outlet reported.

"Not everyone can say they have bison damage decorating their vehicle," the publication noted.

Carl Isom-McDaniel was visiting the park with his grandson in July when a bull bison charged him at Bridge Bay Campground near Yellowstone Lake.

"They move faster than you could ever imagine," Isom-McDaniel later said from his hospital room. "As soon as he got off that tree, he launched me in the air."
