Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide (NYSE:HOT) has delved into the world’s most fashionable capitol, opening a new W Hotel in a historic Parisian building.

The company’s opening of W Paris – Opera, which is set inside a historic 1870s Haussman-era heritage building near Opera Garnier, Galeries Lafayette and Place Vendome in the 9th Arrondissement, marks its first W-branded hotel in France.

“Fashionable global jetsetters can now be on the runway with W from New York to London and Paris,” said Eva Ziegler, global brand leader of W Hotels Worldwide and Le Méridien.

The new resort reflects a milestone for the W brand as it readies to expand into Singapore, Thailand and China later this year.

“Taking the W brand into Paris, a global fashion capital, marks a true milestone in W`s global expansion into the world’s most exciting and vibrant destinations,” Ziegler said.

The building is owned by Meridia Capital, which purchased the heritage building in 2008 and launched the flagship Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) store there in 2010.

“The new W Paris – Opera hotel will be a major success following the effort and energy put into the refurbishment and design of the building,” Meridia CEO Javier Faus said in a statement.

The hotel will feature 91 “stylish” guest rooms, including 20 suites and two presidential suites, a signature restaurant called Arola that will feature Spanish-style food such as tapas as well as French classics, views of the Opera Garnier from its ground level and mezzanine floors, a lounge, fitness center and meeting and event spaces.

Rooms start from $474.
