Thieves steal $100G of Apple products through Best Buy roof

Store security is setup to stop people gaining entry through the doors and windows, with surveillance cameras monitoring the floor area in case anyone does manage to break in. Using this to their advantage, thieves just stole over $100,000 worth of Apple products from a Best Buy by breaking in to the store through the roof.

As WSB-TV reports, the Best Buy is located on Hammond Drive in Dunwoody, Georgia and the thieves gained entry by making a hole in the roof and rappelling down into the store. They then proceeded to locate and "burrow" into a store room containing thousands of Apple products including iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks.

Sgt. Robert Parsons commented that this was "a 'Mission Impossible' style burglary," referring to the 1996 movie Mission: Impossible which sees Tom Cruise break into a secure room by rappelling down from a ceiling vent. I suspect the thieves were a little less graceful in their descent into Best Buy, though.

For now, the identity of the thieves is unknown and there were no cameras recording inside the store when then broke in. Police are hoping surveillance video from the area around the store may show the thieves either coming or going, but there's no guarantee such footage exists. It's also possible this isn't the first roof burglary they have carried out, with similar thefts occurring in Texas and Florida.
