Taylor Swift continues to set records: The chart-topping singer's music video for Blank Space has become the fastest video to reach 1 billion views on Vevo. She tweeted the news Monday, thanking fans for racking up all those views and also for keeping her latest single, Bad Blood, at the top of the pop charts for a third week.
We all know that Swift is kind of a big deal (this is the girl that Apple bowed to, after all), so her latest record just confirms it. Nonetheless, it's still impressive, considering how few videos have actually made it over the billion views hump. Blank Space becomes just the fourth video, joining Baby by Justin Bieber (featuring Ludacris) and Dark Horse and Roar by Katy Perry at the top of the list of most viewed videos on Vevo. Swift's video, released in November 2014, has already overtaken Roar, and we wouldn't be surprised to see it eventually dethrone Bieber's video. Baby currently leads Blank Space by over 193 million views (at the time of publishing), but, released in 2010, it's had a 4-year head start.
Whether Blank Space eventually becomes the number one video or not, Swift is right to be proud of its unprecedented rise. Based on her tweet to fans, the accomplishment isn't lost on her.
Vevo also celebrated the news, sharing that Blank Space is Swift's first video to cross the billion views mark.
