Long-teased, Predator, the eponymous alien trophy hunter from '80s action films in the Alien universe, joins Mortal Kombat X as the next playable character, following the previous DLC additions of Jason Voorhees and Tanya. For players that purchased the Kombat Pack, Predator will go live on July 7. Everyone else will have to wait until July 14 for the chance to purchase Predator separately.

Along with the new playable character, the Predator Bundle includes three new character skins: Commando Johnny Cage, Infrared Scorpion, and -- most importantly -- Jax reskinned as Carl Weathers. Weathers is one of the stars of the original film, but is more recently known for his recurring role as himself coaching Tobias in acting on Arrested Development. Now we've got a stew going!

A vicious and versatile fighter, Predator fits right in with the brutal brawlers of MKX. Its moves combine ranged attacks from high-tech gadgetry like traps and a shoulder-mounted laser, with vicious, up-close-and-personal attacks from the Combi-Stick telescoping spear and iconic, wrist-mounted claws. It also wouldn't be Predator, of course, without cloaking. We haven't yet seen the Predator's three fighting styles, but based on the gameplay shown in the trailer, I would wager that one will be focused on melee, one will be focused on tech, and the third might revolve around the Combi-Stick.

The final addition of the Kombat Pack DLC season pass will be a second Klassic Pack, like the one prior to Predator that added Tanya, who was originally introduced in Mortal Kombat 4. Klassic Pack No. 2 will add Tremor, who appeared in the 2000 action spin-off Mortal Kombat: Special Forces. Tremor, a brown-clothed ninja is part of the series' long tradition of introducing ninja characters of various colors (Sub-Zero and Scorpion were alternate color versions of the same character model, in order to save memory space in the original game. He has earth-related powers such as causing quakes and shooting stone missiles that briefly petrify his opponent.

If Arnold ever joins Mortal Kombat in one of his many appropriate roles, we might get to recreate this classic scene as a prelude to Fatality:
