Apple has just issued a recall for its Beats by Dr. Dre Pill XL wireless speaker. According to the company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the battery may overheat, posing a fire hazard. There have been eight reported incidents of speakers overheating, including one case in which a consumer's finger was burned.

Apple bought the audio equipment company in spring 2014. About 222,000 of the speakers have been sold in the United States. In a statement published on its website, the Consumer Product Safety Commission statement recommends that “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Apple for a $325 Apple Store credit or electronic payment. Apple will provide a postage paid box for consumers to send their Pill XL speaker to Apple.”
