The Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that while on the campaign trail earlier this month, Prime Minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero (search) said -- "The first thing I will do when I am elected is to go to the United States and support John Kerry."

As if that weren't enough to worry the White House, Zapatero told a Spanish radio station that -- "the war in Iraq was a disaster, the occupation of Iraq is a disaster ... wars such as that which has occurred in Iraq only allow hatred, violence and terror to proliferate."

And that view isn't limited to Spain. European Commission President Romano Prodi tells an Italian newspaper -- "It is clear that using force is not the answer to resolving the conflict with terrorists ...Terrorism is infinitely more powerful than a year ago"

Right Wing Conspiracy 2?

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (search) now says that Democratic presidential contender John Kerry (search) is a victim of the same right wing conspiracy that she claims targeted her husband during his White House tenure.

In a discussion moderated by Fox News contributor Juan Williams, Senator Clinton defended Kerry's controversial claim that the Republicans are the most crooked, lying group he's ever seen, saying the comments were a sign that Kerry wanted to -- "take on this particular network of forces that stand behind the president." She went on to say that Kerry's remarks were -- "quite descriptive of reality."

The Ultimate Penalty

A Chinese congressional delegate is claiming that his government sentences to death and executes 10,000 convicts each year, according to a state-controlled newspaper. Representative Chen Zhonglin's statement was part of a call for reform of the death penalty in China, where Amnesty international counted 1000 reported executions in the last year.

The actual number of death sentences are carried out is a strict secret, but Chen's government status would give him special access to such information. Chinese officials would neither confirm nor deny Chen's claim.

A Win for UBL?

Republican Rep. Tom Cole (search) of Oklahoma provoked criticism last week when he said -- "If George Bush loses the election, Usama bin Laden wins the election." But according to a new poll, a majority of Americans share a similar view.

The Andres-McKenna Research Group found that 60 percent of registered voters believe that terrorists would support John Kerry in this year's presidential elections, while 25 percent thought they'd favor George Bush. However, the same poll shows Bush trailing Kerry 45 percent to 47 percent.
