Veteran TV producer Steven Bochco (search) is taking another swing at a baseball series.

He has set up an untitled comedy at FOX revolving around a minor-league baseball team. Bochco tackled the minor-league milieu in the short-lived 1983 NBC drama "Bay City Blues (search)."

The project, on which Bochco is partnered with comedy writers Mitchel Katlin and Nat Bernstein, is in the early development stage, with a script commitment from FOX.

Bochco is preparing for the July 27 premiere of the new drama "Over There (search)," set against the backdrop of the Iraq war, on FOX's sibling cable channel FX.

In March, Bochco's groundbreaking ABC drama, "NYPD Blue (search)," wrapped its 12-season run. He also fielded the short-lived ABC crime drama, "Blind Justice (search)," this past season.

Reps for FOX and Bochco declined comment.
