HONOLULU – Twenty high school students from Hawaii are under quarantine in South Korea after five of them were found to have elevated temperatures when their flight landed Tuesday at Seoul Inchon Airport.
South Korea performs temperature scans on incoming airline passengers to guard against the spread of swine flu, also referred to as the H1N1 virus.
The students are on a study tour organized by the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council.
They are scheduled to return July 5.
The Honolulu Advertiser is reporting that an e-mail statement from the council says the five students all had temperatures in the range of 100 degrees.
The five are being held at Seoul's National Hospital. The remaining students and four chaperones are staying at their hotel.
