Son Charged With Suffocating Father, 83, With Pillow

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A St. Petersburg, Fla., man is charged with suffocating his 83-year-old father with a pillow.

Forty-year-old Stephen Coffeen was being held Saturday at Pinellas County Jail after Robert Coffeen's lifeless body was found at the elder man's home. He was arrested Friday and taken without struggle.

According to St. Petersburg police, the son claims he suffocated his father in self-defense. Police say he lives in Davis, Calif. It wasn't immediately know if he obtained an attorney.

Bond was set at $100,000.
