Remember smallpox — the bioterror threat we heard so much about last fall?

Just because you haven't heard that much about it lately doesn't mean that the threat of a terrorist unleashing a deadly strain of the virus has gone away.

Public health experts told us that a bioterrorist attack involving smallpox would pose a major threat. The disease is contagious and deadly.

Despite government efforts to create enough of a smallpox vaccine to go around, it appears that we're not much better off than we were on Sept. 11.
