WASHINGTON – Sears Roebuck and Co. is recalling 13,000 glue guns nationwide because the guns can overheat, burning people who try to use them and posing a fire hazard.
The department store company, based in Hoffman Estates, Ill., has received no reports of injuries because of the glue guns, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Tuesday.
The glue guns were sold in "Sears Craftsman Instant-On Bonder Kits," which included glue sticks, a silicone mat and a black plastic case. The glue gun is black with a red trigger and bears the "Craftsman" logo on one side.
The other side bears the labels "Craftsman Glue Gun 526.804420" and "Caution: Nozzle and Glue Can Cause Burns."
The guns were sold for $20.
People should stop using the glue guns immediately, the company said. The guns can be returned to any Sears store for a full refund.
