Saudi Arabian Anti-American Rhetoric
We’ve seen a lot of anti-American rhetoric coming from our Saudi Arabian friends. But recently there’s at least as much anti-American speechifying coming from our Egyptian allies.
An article entitled, “May the Cannibals be Cursed” was published recently in an Egyptian newspaper. The article laments the killing by U.S. forces of Saddam Hussein’s sons and says the photos prove that the two were tortured to death. “Have Americans surrendered to their weakness for murdering, crushing, and shredding the blood of innocent civilians and victims?” asks author Fatma Abdallah Mahmoud (search).
He goes on to say, “Every place that it destroys, annihilates, and plunders treasure and oil [from], America does no less than what primitive cannibal tribes did in the prehistoric era!”
The newspaper in which this article appeared is actually sponsored by the Egyptian government. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Egyptian government has received nearly $60 billion in aid from the U.S. taxpayer since 1979. How much of that went directly into newspaper publishing isn’t known.
And that’s the Asman Observer.
