Makeup artist to the stars Paul Starr, who worked with actresses like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner and Jessica Alba, was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment on Tuesday, reports WWD.com, the Web site for Women's Wear Daily.

Starr, thought to be 48, hadn't been heard or seen for days, the site reports. His body was found after his door was broken down.

"During the time we have spent in the makeup chair, we talked about everything but the photo shoot; global issues, babies, human rights..." Jolie says in Starr's book, "Paul Starr on Beauty: Conversations with Thirty Celebrated Women."

Garner also raves about Starr in the book.

"Paul Starr has this uncanny ability to look at a face and see what it needs. He's done my face a thousand times and never repeated a look. I have never felt more like the best version of myself than when Paul has made me up," she says.

Starr had worked in the makeup industry for over two decades, including film and fashion work for clients ranging from Jean Paul Gaultier to Dolce & Gabbana.
