Reba McEntire is back as host of the Academy of Country Music Awards.

McEntire will preside over the 41st edition of the show, which will air live May 23 on CBS from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the Burbank-based Academy announced Thursday. It will be the eighth time she has hosted the show.

"Her wit, comic timing, and her relationship with the artists bring a dynamic to the awards that I think is unprecedented in our industry," Bob Romeo, Academy executive director, said in a statement.

The 51-year-old actress-singer stars on the WB's "Reba."
