DETROIT – Authorities charged a Detroit woman with murder, saying she drove to a recreation center, popped the hood so her son could get a hidden gun and then sped away with him after a fatal shooting.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says the 19-year-old victim was an innocent bystander in the Oct. 8 shooting.
Worthy announced first-degree murder charges Wednesday against 35-year-old Tarranisha Davis and her 15-year-old son, Tremaine. The teen is accused of firing the revolver outside the recreation center.
At Davis' home, a man who would only identify himself as her fiance insists she didn't have a key role in the shooting.
The teen was arraigned and ordered held without bond, while his mother's court appearance was scheduled later. Names of their lawyers were not known.
