Police say a pregnant 15-year-old was shot and killed Monday morning as she waited at a North Carolina school bus stop.

Police spokesman Rob Tufano says Tiffany Wright was shot in the head in Charlotte. She died after being rushed to a hospital. She was 32 weeks along in her pregnancy.

Hospital spokeswoman Katie Ratchford says the baby is in critical condition.

Tufano says the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, and investigators are searching for a suspect. Tufano did not elaborate.

He says the teen's foster mother went home after walking Wright to the bus stop. The foster mother heard gunshots and came out to find the teen in the street.

The girl attended an alternative school with a special program for pregnant teens.
