LOS ANGELES – Liv Tyler earned the nickname "Action Pants" on the set of "The Incredible Hulk" after her tight pants ripped during filming and crew members scored a sneak peek at her rear end. And unluckily for Liv, this was reoccurring.
"I have a secret for you: It didn’t happen on one occasion, it happened on several occasions where Liv’s pants tore open. She definitely deserves her nickname," "Hulk" director Louis Leterrier told Pop Tarts at Sunday’s premiere.
But it seems the director may be the one to blame for Tyler’s wardrobe malfunction — and any emotional and, well, physical scarring that has resulted.
"Her pants were very thin, but I love to put my actors in the real action, the real deal," Leterrier explained. "She [Liv] was getting torn; she was bruised from day one to the end. She liked it; she was like 'bring on the bruising.'"
But despite Tyler’s success as a screen queen, the 30-year-old surprisingly never really had her hopes set on being an actress.
"I actually only ever wanted to be a singer my whole life ever since I was a little girl; my mom and my dad and my stepdad were all singers and if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said a singer," she said.
"Somehow when I was 15, I went on an audition for a movie and got the part and I've been acting ever since. But I'm probably secretly more passionate about music — I really love to sing."
So will the starlet make the switch?
"I don’t have a master plan. Everybody always asks where I see myself in 10 years and what my plan is, but I'm just a human being getting along in the world," Tyler said. "I really try and follow my heart as much as I can and find the things that I believe in and that are challenging."

Also having a night without her beau was Vanessa Minnillo. The former MTV starlet was all smiles as she got down on the dance floor well into the wee hours at Coco De Ville after she, too, attended the Lakers match without her lover, Nick Lachey.
We don’t quite know what water Minnillo has been sipping, but these days that girl is looking way too lush to be out and about on her own — and every male in sight seemed to notice.
Method Man's Dangerous Dive at New York Nightclub
Rapper-turned-actor Method Man was lucky to come out unscathed on Tuesday night after getting a little too enthusiastic while performing at the birthday bash for co-owners of New York hotspot Tenjune, Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum.
The high-profile hip-hopper (who also starred alongside Mary-Kate Olsen in this year's Sundance hit "The Wackness") performed alongside fellow music mogul Redman and the two brought the roof down — literally.
We're told Method Man catapulted himself to the ceiling and grabbed hold of a beam, crawled across the ceiling, beam to beam, from the stage to the central dance floor, before diving head-first into the crowd.
An eyewitness told us he came up unhurt and continued partying alongside the likes of Selita Ebanks, John Legend, Jermaine Dupri, Busta Rhymes, Will.I.Am and Kristin Cavallari.
Speaking of the former "Laguna Beach" babe, it seems she has a new gig and was in the Big Apple shooting an upcoming film, "Wild Cherry." But Miss Cav obviously was enjoying her night off — doing shots and getting her groove on well into the wee hours.
Brangelina's Babies Worth Big Bucks
No, we aren’t talking about the rumored $15 million bidding war for the first pictures of the twins. We always knew that the pending Brangelina babies were going to have to be at least a little spoiled, but we just didn’t know how spoiled.
According to the New York Daily News, the star-studded couple has spent over six figures decking out the nursery for their twins with items from baby boutique Petit Tresor in West Hollywood.
The stylish space is said to consist of items including two Versailles-style cribs (each worth $3,200) with matching changing tables ($2,800) in addition to $4,500 armoires, chandeliers and cashmeres.
Mind you, in the past, the Daily News also has exposed the purchases made at Petit Tresor by the likes of Gisele Bundchen, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba. So if the stars want to shop discreetly, maybe they should shop elsewhere.
Spears' Second Date With Gibson
They may have cruised to Costa Rica together last month, but new BFFs Britney Spears and Mel Gibson were back together (as friends only) on Tuesday night at exclusive cigar bar The Havana Club in Los Angeles to watch the Lakers game and probably have a puff or two.
A pap snapper told Pop Tarts that the two exited the club at separate times, so they were unable to get the real money shot of them together, but both seemed to be in good spirits.
Gibson (who has had his share of substance abuse issues) is believed to be befriending Britney and helping her get back on the track of good health after what has been a tumultuous 18 months of trouble from losing custody of her kids to being hospitalized twice.
