LOS ANGELES – Lindsay Lohan's efforts to stump for Barack Obama were reportedly thrown back in her face by the Democratic candidate's campaign ... and her father is none too happy about it.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, LiLo wanted to promote Obama but was turned away by his camp due to her wild ways. Now daddy Michael Lohan is biting back.
"For Barack Obama to condemn my daughter for past indiscretions when he admitted to the exact same himself is indicative of what kind of president he would be," Michael Lohan told Pop Tarts via e-mail on Wednesday night.
"His visions of a positive future for this country should be representative of a positive future for people as well. It is looking beyond the difficult times and letting go of the past," Michael said. "Obviously, Obama can do this for himself and not others, when in fact a good president should have hope for all."
Michael and his famous daughter have had a rocky relationship in recent weeks, but he had nothing but nice words for his little one in his e-mail.
"Lindsay is gifted — she has a wonderful heart and she can and will affect millions of people in a very positive way. She is here to stay," he said. "Obama might have eight years, and then he will be giving lectures. Who knows, maybe Lindsay will give him a part in one of her movies."
On Tuesday night, Michael attended the Somaly Mam Foundation's "New Dreams" benefit soiree in Los Angeles, which fights the $12 billion-a-year sex trafficking industry. He told Pop Tarts that he's looking for a star to take him on in the boxing ring to raise more money for numerous charities, with Perez Hilton being his top pick to punch.
Pop Tarts also spotted a very pregnant Ashlee Simpson sneaking into the swanky bash, although it seems her sneaking caused extra attention. Apparently, Mrs. Pete Wentz refused to be photographed and wouldn't even visit the outdoor area until all media were cleared. We hear the red carpet was even closed down when Ash arrived so that she could be dropped off by her limo right at the entrance without being snapped.
Curvier Megan Fox Is 'The Biggest Nerd'
Megan Fox’s bony body has come under intense media scrutiny in recent months, but after telling Pop Tarts about her aim to put on weight for "Transformers 2," the actress emerged looking a lot healthier on Tuesday night.
Fox stepped out to support her co-star Shia LaBeouf at the Hollywood premiere of his latest action adventure "Eagle Eye." Sporting a black micro-mini, the sexy starlet showed off particularly muscular arms and calves and she strutted down the red carpet arm-in-arm with LaBeouf.
Aside from their love of acting, it turns out that the Tinseltown twosome also share a commonality of being a bit dorky.
"I’m the biggest nerd — I love comic books and stuff like that," Fox recently told Tarts, while Shia said he’s a "techno geek."
"You don’t really have a choice, you need to know how to use it these days — it’s mandatory to succeed," he said, adding that he’s addicted to his Xbox.
Speaking of success, would "Transformers" be such a phenomena without the 22-year-old star?
"It’s not me," Shia said. "'Transformers' would still be a huge hit if someone else was in it."
Joe Francis' Night at Gay Bars
"Girls Gone Wild" founder Joe Francis has made no secret of the fact he loves young ladies topless, but it seems he also likes to hang out at gay bars.
Pop Tarts spotted Francis livin' it up on Friday night at popular Hollywood gay bar The Abbey. Francis apparently then made his way to another popular gay bar, Eleven, where he had booked a table.
Also partying up a storm over the weekend was our fave "Gilmore Girl" Alexis Bledel. It's hard to believe that the former teen sensation turned 27, and she celebrated in style with a small group of good friends at Sin City's Prive nightclub.
Verne "Mini Me" Troyer also descended upon the popular club, arriving with a Playmate whom he apparently introduced as his girlfriend (Troyer's rep told Pop Tarts the pair are just friends).
Even Kevin Federline made a club cameo in the wee hours of Sunday morning, and was seated at Prive's private and exclusive table 69 where he spent the entire evening with a group of ladies.
Michael Phelps Gets Sprayed
Just because he spends hours in the pool a day doesn't mean Michael Phelps has time to tan.
The Olympic champ is clearly enjoying his post-Beijing star status. When he isn't with his 40-person entourage or partying up as a VIP with the likes of Christina Aguilera, Kid Rock and Rihanna, he's apparently getting bronzed in the bedroom.
Inside sources told Pop Tarts that Phelps ordered a private pro from Sunset Tan (yes, it is more than a reality show) to go into his Las Vegas hotel room last week and give him the glamorous glow-down.
We're told he was super-friendly and easygoing, so let's hope that even with his Hollywood partying that our Phelps stays that way. ...
