CLAREMONT, Calif. – Authorities in Claremont on Tuesday were surrounding a home where they said a man was holed up after shooting his wife.
Sheriff's officials said the 51-year-old woman was shot in the chest at about 6:15 a.m. Tuesday.
She ran next door to a neighbor and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Sheriff's officials said her husband barricaded himself in his home with his elderly mother-in-law but she was rescued by a SWAT team about three hours later.
The man remained inside the home about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
