NEWPORT, Maine – Authorities in Maine have captured a man after several days of searching and charged him with murdering his father.
The Maine State Police say 45-year-old Perley Goodrich Jr. of Newport was charged Friday, several hours after he was captured at a convenience store in his hometown.
A waitress recognized Goodrich and called police. He offered no resistance.
More than 55 officers and three aircraft began a search Monday night for Goodrich. His 76-year-old father was fatally shot and his 64-year-old mother was beaten at the home they all shared.
Goodrich is charged with murder and aggravated assault. Jail officials don't have a record of Goodrich having a lawyer.
