Dear Viewers,
I have placed on blog today pictures from the Inaugural Ball that we covered on Thursday night. To see them, click on the links in the photo box above.
During our coverage on Thursday, we had two guests who mentioned Web sites and many of you have asked me what the Web sites are. So that I can streamline the process of answering, here they are:
Shawna's Web site: www.amillionthanks.org
Stephen Baldwin's Web site: www.supportthepassion.com
Yesterday, I read the following piece of information on Avstar (our internal FOX information system.) I don't know about you, but it struck me as funny — flights cancelled, but the airport claims there are no delays? I guess technically it is correct — a cancellation is not a delay:
JFK AIRPORT- 60 FLIGHTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED THERE ARE NO DELAYS AS OF RIGHT NOW.
LAGUARDIA AIRPORT - 200 FLIGHTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED, THERE ARE NO DELAYS AS OF RIGHT NOW.
NEWARK AIRPORT - 200 FLIGHTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED, THERE ARE NO DELAYS AS OF RIGHT NOW.
Now for some e-mails:

Greta,
I'm a big fan of your show and really appreciate the trial coverage you provide, and all of the alerts concerning missing individuals and crime updates from around the U.S.
Lately, however, I've noticed excessive coverage of the tsunami and the events in Washington for Bush, so I have found myself switching between channels. God Bless the victims and their families that have been touched by the tsunami, but I think we need to put this tragedy into perspective and move on at this point. One of the big problems with the American media is that they just spend way too long on stories like the tsunami to the exclusion of other stories.
What I would like to see is more coverage of the Robert Blake trial and hopefully the Michael Jackson trial when it starts on January 31st. I love the legal panel and guests like Dr. Baden.
Just a follow up question regarding the Peterson legal panel: I was always curious as to whether Jim Hammer and Laura have ever thought about dating if they're unattached. I think they would make a cute couple. I really enjoyed all the Peterson coverage this past year.
Keep up the great work, Greta! I will keep watching, but please get back to coverage of the trials.
Thanks,
Kathey

Hi Greta,
Are you a Republican, or a Democrat? It's hard for me to tell and we watch you every night.

ANSWER: Glad you can't tell if I lean more R or D — that means I am doing my job. You would not believe many e-mails I get. Some nights I get e-mails where some viewers "accuse" me of being a Democrat and others "accuse" me of being a Republican and all in the SAME night! Some viewers seize upon questions I ask and naturally make all sorts of assumptions when the goal of an anchor is to inquire of a guest's views and why the guest holds those views.

Dear Greta,
I loved your interviews during the Inaugural Balls, but was very disappointed that there was barely any coverage of the Commander in Chief Ball. Since it was created to honor our troops, and Bush stated that it was his favorite of the night, why did your TV audience get left in the dark on this one.
Perplexed,
Nancy
ANSWER: The Commander in Chief Ball was my FIRST choice to cover — but the Bush Administration did not permit us to do it. The media was allowed a pool camera there — but no shows.
E-mail No. 4 — I agreed to be interviewed for "The Tonight Show" for last Friday night's show, I was "interviewed" by Mo Rocca in my office earlier in the week. I missed the segment, but the next e mailer did not...
Greta,
We all like to see importantes being human and caught off guard. Mo's questions were hilarious and they had you laughing bending at your knees half way to the floor. The TV audience was laughing. I was laughing. And, you looked real cute, girl. I'd get a copy of that segment if I were you. Have you been on John Stewart's show? Nighty-night.
Chris
E-mail No. 5 — This next e-mail is bizarre to me. During our Ball coverage on Thursday night, my good friend and colleague Greg Kelly, on air with me from another Ball, happen to mention the bars in D.C. close at 2am. I TEASED him about knowing that and the next viewer thought I was MEAN! Go figure! It was a JOKE!
Greta,
You are damn right mean! "I wouldn't know about the bars closing at 2 a.m. in DC, and funny that you would." Perhaps you owe Greg an apology for that remark! Don't pull that crap on the American public. Sorry, but I have to take you down a couple of notches for that one.
