Palestinian officials say five militants have been killed and two wounded in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

The attacks threaten to derail last-minute truce talks between Israel and Gaza's Islamic militant Hamas rulers.

The first air attack Tuesday destroyed a blue Subaru in the southern town of Khan Younis.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says all five occupants of the vehicle were killed.

Two other Palestinians were wounded in a second strike in the central Gaza town of Deir el-Balah. Their identities were not immediately known.

The Israeli army confirmed both strikes. It said "terror activists" were the target of the first attack and had no immediate details on the second.

The strikes occurred as Israel and Hamas were trying to complete a cease-fire deal after months of Egyptian mediation.
