One Nation Under God?

A 5th-grade teacher in Cupertino, California, has gone to federal court to force the school district where he works to allow him to use historical documents that refer to God, such as the Declaration of Independence (search).

Steve Williams says he used the documents in response to student questions about the reference to God. School officials starting to monitor his classes after a parent complained.

Bah, Humbug!

Macy's (search), the department store featured in the Christmas movie "Miracle on 34th Street," denies it's being politically correct in its advertising by using "Seasons Greetings" and "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

But perhaps there's a hint of the company's thinking in a statement on the corporate Web page: "These expressions of goodwill are more reflective of the multicultural society in which we live."

How about this: Bah, humbug!
