A North Carolina high school has canceled its Friday football game because of fears that the 16 out of 30 varsity players home sick are suffering from the flu.

The Dispatch of Lexington reported Friday that Central Davidson football coach Mark Hoover said at least seven of his players have swine flu.

The school canceled its home game against North Davidson on Friday because of the players' illnesses.

Davidson County Schools spokeswoman Meredith Palmer says the district has no plans to close school.
