MOSHI, Tanzania – A senior police officer says a small plane crashed into Mount Kilimanjaro and killed four people who were traveling on board.
Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Lucas Nghoboko says a fifth person was injured and is being treated in a hospital in Moshi.
Nghoboko says the plane involved in Saturday's accident was registered in Kenya, but he did not know its flight path.
The nationalities of the plane's passengers and pilot also were not immediately known.
The northeastern town of Moshi is on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The mountain is Africa's highest and a key tourist attraction of Tanzania.
