The search for a missing elderly man in Australia ended Tuesday when police found him drinking beer at a hotel bar.

Hugh Browne, 77, of Adelaide, Australia, was discovered imbibing at the Berri Resort Hotel in Riverland a day after he took a taxi from his nursing home to an annual fair, the Adelaide Advertiser reports.

Browne had left his home to attend the Royal Adelaide Show, but ended up checking into the hotel on Monday night, the paper said.

"He came down to the bar [on Tuesday] and had a few beers and was chatting with the locals like anyone would," Darren Tieste, the hotel's duty manager, told the paper.

Authorities returned Browne to the nursing home, the Advertiser said.
