Hey fashionistas!

The moment has finally arrived (YEAH)!!! Inauguration day has come and gone, and what a flurry of First Lady fashion moments Michelle Obama bestowed upon us! Oh I’m so excited I can hardly type. Here’s my take on her day and night ensembles.

Certainly her gown garnered more pre-inauguration buzz causing women everywhere to wonder what she would wear to the bevy of balls. But it was her dress and coat that proved to be the more controversial choice and certainly the more visible of the two outfits. She wore the yellow Isabel Toledo embroidered coat and sheath throughout the entire day paired with green gloves from J. Crew and a pair of Jimmy Choo kitten heels. While I love Michelle’s effort to embody a Jackie Kennedy elegance, I found the dress to be a bit too matronly for our fashion forward First Lady. With that said, I love how she mixed a pair of affordable gloves with this high end style. If you loved her look, check out the picture to the left to find out how to get it for LESS. I can’t ignore Malia and Sasha who looked perfect in ribbon belted coats from CrewCuts, J. Crew's children's collection.

As for evening, Michelle went in the opposite direction looking bridal and virginal in a white and flowing Jason Wu. While my fellow iMaggers and writers alike have mixed feelings, I loved this white style with silver and floral details. She looked just as fresh as the future we’re so promised. My only criticism was the lack of convenience the dress bore on poor Michelle. It was not easy to maneuver in as she jaunted from ball to ball. C’est la vie, beauty is pain.
