CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — – Ernie Myers' alleged plan to drive off with a truckload of stolen goods went straight down the toilet.
Myers, a truck driver, flipped a tractor-trailer filled with toilet paper onto its side Thursday morning as he was being pursued by police. Myers allegedly had stolen the truck earlier in the day, fully aware of its cargo.
Nobody was hurt in the accident, which was videotaped by news cameras in a helicopter above. Myers jumped out of the truck, but police using flashlights took him into custody in nearby woods about five minutes after the wreck.
Police suspect Myers carried out another theft of a toilet paper-filled tractor-trailer from the same freight yard a month earlier. After the earlier heist, the perpetrator was seen unsuccessfully trying to sell the goods on the street.
