FIFE, Wash. – A bank robbery north of Tacoma has ended with a person described as the robber in custody and no damage or injuries.
A witness told KIRO Television in Seattle the man told a teller at a Bank of America branch in Fife he had a bomb Tuesday morning. The man reportedly refused to take money, saying he wanted to be arrested, and let all the customers and employees leave. Two nearby fast-food restaurants were also evacuated.
Pierce County sheriff's Detective Ed Troyer said the man has been arrested. A black bag he was carrying remained inside the bank pending further examination and investigation by a bomb squad.
