LONDON – Madonna was back to work on her “Sticky and Sweet” tour Wednesday, even potentially ragging on her husband Guy Ritchie after announcing their imminent divorce, People magazine reported.
The couple announced their divorce plans Wednesday through a joint statement.
According to a report in the U.K.’s Sun, the couple went public with their split because they “can’t bear to live with the pretence any longer.”

But when Madonna, 50, took to the stage in Boston in front of 30,00 fans, she inferred that all was not perfect in her personal life when she introduced the song “Miles Away.” She dedicated the song to the “emotionally retarded,” before adding, “You may know a few people like that, God knows I do.”
According to People, Madonna told Elle magazine earlier this year that the song was inspired by her relationship with Ritchie.
Meanwhile, talk of the financial settlement of the divorce increased Thursday morning when the Times of London revealed that Madonna has hired Fiona Shackleton, the lawyer who represented the Prince of Wales when his first marriage came to an end, as well as Paul McCartney’s divorce from Heather Mills.
According to the Times, Madonna and Ritchie are worth nearly $600 million as a couple. With no pre-nuptial agreement, Ritchie could pocket half of that sum.
