A man accused of abducting his 4-year-old daughter and the girl's mother outside a school Tuesday morning was arrested after authorities issued an Amber Alert (search) seeking the public's help.

Richard Gaddy (search), 31, was accused of taking his daughter, Christina Gaddy, and Christie Lynn Sharpe, 25, from E.M. Holt Elementary School near Burlington, Alamance County sheriff's deputies said.

Gaddy was captured in Burke County, about 130 miles west, Tuesday afternoon, said Randy Jones, a spokesman for the Alamance County (search) Sheriff's Department. The child and her mother were safe, Jones said.

He said he had no other information about the incident.

Earlier, Gaddy and a 1979 white Ford pickup truck was the subject of an Amber Alert, which is issued when a child is abducted. The alert spread to Georgia, where authorities thought Gaddy may be headed.

Deputies said they arrested two accomplices in the abduction at a Burlington motel Tuesday morning.
