Singer Jessica Simpson (search), still suffering from a kidney infection, canceled her performance Wednesday in Manchester, said a spokeswoman at Columbia Records.

Simpson, 23, is under a doctor's care, said spokeswoman Renee Pfefer. The singer had canceled a Tuesday show in Providence, R.I.

Her next show is scheduled in Detroit on Friday.

Simpson issued a statement saying she "can't wait until the doctor says it's OK for me to get back out there. Thanks to everyone for their get-well wishes."

The concert appearances were part of a summer tour promoting her latest album, "In This Skin." (search) Simpson intends to reschedule them, Pfefer said.
