A former elementary school custodian, already booked on six counts of aggravated rape involving two 10-year-olds, is facing new allegations, according to police.

Dino Jay Schwertz, 41, of Slidell, was booked at the City Jail over the weekend with six counts of aggravated rape against the 10-year-olds.

Since his arrest was made public on Monday, two more boys have come forward with allegations of indecent behavior by Schwertz, who once worked at W.L. Abney Elementary School.

The mother of an 11-year-old Abney student filed a complaint Monday with Slidell police accusing Schwertz of indecent behavior. A complaint about Schwertz involving an 8-year-old Abney student was reported Tuesday, police said.

Schwertz worked at Abney from July 2007 until January.

School officials sent home a letter Monday with Abney students offering limited details about the arrest but providing parents a number to call, said Linda Roan, spokeswoman for St. Tammany Parish public schools.

Also, on Monday, school officials and police held a news conference while Northshore High School parents were mailed a letter, police and Roan said.

Schwertz was moved to the high school in January when he was hired to work full time.

Roan said school officials are trying to publicize the situation as they attempt to determine whether any other children might be involved.

"We certainly would want those to be reported, if that is the case," she said.

She said counselors are at Abney to assist students, parents and staff.

Roan said school officials would review employee background check procedures but said the system already goes a little further than what state law requires.

A check on Schwertz turned up no concerns in his record, police have said.
