An Idaho prisoner has escaped from a southern Idaho jail for the third time since last September, bedeviling law enforcement officers who once had to track him down in Arizona.

Scott Howard Holmes, who is 39 and heavily tattooed, bolted from Gooding County Jail Monday evening just after 9 p.m.

He'd been awaiting trial after being charged with two felony counts of escaping a jail and one felony count of battery on an officer.

Last September, authorities say Holmes assaulted a jailer during the second of a pair of escapes.

Holmes fled to Arizona where he was finally caught two months later.

Holmes, who was an Idaho Department of Correction inmate, has previous convictions for burglary, aggravated assault and forgery in Twin Falls and Minidoka counties.
