One man's dead and ten other people hurt in the fiery crash of a hot-air balloon (search) in Arizona.

Police in Marana, Arizona, say the man who died was in his 70's and was from New York. He and his wife had been given a ride in the sightseeing balloon by their daughter as an anniversary gift.

Investigators say the Thunderbird Adventures (search) balloon clipped a mountain yesterday morning, smashing supports on the large wicker gondola. The bottom part of the balloon caught fire as the pilot struggled to land it in high winds, which dragged the basket about 200 yards along the desert terrain.

Eight people survived with only minor injuries but two others were critically hurt.
