Today's blog is short... I am up very early because I have to drive 60 plus miles and through two rush hour traffics to attend to a family event. I will be back in D.C. in time to do our show. But, this means that YOU — the e-mailing viewers — play a large role in today's blog. I got in late last night and I am up early and leaving the house so I don't have time to write a long blog.
But, before I press "send" and send the blog to FOXNews.com to post the blog, I want to mention something. This tragedy from Hurricane Katrina (search) is huge... we hear horrible things — even worse than what is reported — about what people are dealing with in the states effected. I can't even begin to describe it. If you are feeling generous, you might want to give to the Red Cross or some other organization to help these people. Help is desperately needed.

Thank God for Katrina, for three days I have not had to hear about Natalee. Maybe Ellie May and Jug could go home and help some of their neighbors and get off of their witch hunt in Aruba. All the help they were given, I wonder what they are doing to help the people of Alabama.

I am disappointing in the way Greta reports the Katrina catastrophe. She is so cold and shows no empathy at all for the people she talks to. Her "tough" attitude does not lend itself to this type of reporting. I have stopped watching her show.

ANSWER: Debra, thanks for the note... while those of us who sit comfortably in our studios do get fatigued from time to time, it does not come CLOSE to the fatigue our people on the ground in the disaster areas feel. Plus, even their fatigue is so much less than the actual victims of this cruel hurricane. No matter how little sleep I might have, I have a home to go home to this evening... this is not true of so many thousands and thousands. I appreciate you noting our long hours, but please know that we each know we have it SO EASY compared to those who truly do suffer.

Talked with someone today and they said the LSU football game has been cancelled this weekend and the players can't practice, so the players are helping in the shelters, etc., in Baton Rouge! This speaks well for these young men and I thought it might add a personal touch to the stories... if you needed one! It might also give some of these healthy, strong kids in other towns an idea about HELPING since this is a holiday weekend. You do a wonderful job... just love watching you every night.

For G_d's sake let the survivors of Katrina in New Orleans take as much as they want — they have suffered unimaginable trauma and this is the only way they can survive now. Who cares if they take some food and clothing? Everything that is being looted is "lost" anyway, why not just hand it out to all those in need? It is absolutely ridiculous that the Police are aiming guns and threatening to shoot looters, the police should be concentrating on assisting folks — not confronting those who G_d has spared in this horrific catastrophe.
Update: I've just learned that we are headed to Houston and the Astrodome tonight.
