War is hell, but even in hell there are levels of horror. And in the race to the bottom, Middle East (search) terrorists have sunk to a new low: Using children as cannon fodder. That's the latest tactic employed by Palestinian guerrillas, as they probe for weak points along Israeli's frontier with Egypt.

A group of Israeli soldiers spotted three suspects last week in a restricted area who were attempting to cross into Egypt. The soldiers opened fire and, on reaching the site, discovered three children, ages 7, 8 and 10. One of the children was slightly wounded, and was treated at the scene.

When the children were questioned, it was discovered that they had been sent on the mission by their elders, who were probing Israeli positions from a distance. According to the Jerusalem Post, this is not the first time that terrorist organizations had used small children as decoys or on reconnaissance, nor is it likely to be the last.

And that’s the Asman Observer!
